Acne

Acne is the term for plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and even deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Acne affects most teenagers to some degree. However, the disease is not restricted to a particular age group; adults in their 20s - even into their 40s - can get acne. While not a life threatening condition, acne can be upsetting and disfiguring. Severe acne can lead to serious and permanent scarring. Premier dermatologists recommend teenagers be evaluated at the first sign of acne in order to prevent scarring.

Today, virtually every case of acne can be successfully treated. If the acne treatments you have tried are not clearing your skin, it may be time to see a dermatologist. We have many treatment options including oral and topical medications, nutritional supplements, skincare, advanced cleaning tools, and light-based treatments such as lasers.

TREATMENTS
Although tempting, do not "pop" or squeeze blemishes. This can lead to permanent scarring. Additionally, vigorous washing and scrubbing can irritate your skin and make acne worse. Premier Dermatologists recommend gently washing the affected areas twice a day with mild cleanser and warm water.
